The Best Day Ever

So far this summer. Robert and I went kayaking with some friends. We had a double kayak as it was my first time in a boat other than a canoe.

It began to get overcast and drizzly and then full-on raining. We didn’t mind bc it wasn’t cold out. We started off in a little inlet and there was a lot of activity at the surface. A couple of small sharks swam past our canoes/kayaks and shortly after a 3/4 foot sting ray swam between us while we discussed our plan of action. It was cool bc it was like flying along the surface and the ends of its wings were breaking water about a couple of inches.

Later on in our trek we saw a some dorsal fins up ahead. So we cautiously approached since it was in our line of direction. We weren’t sure if they were sharks or dolphins. Turns out there were 4 dolphins. We stopped so we could watch them play. Then they disappeared and popped up next to Dave’s canoe! It was so awesome to see a wild dolphin’s head/blowhole like 10 feet away! One later lept out of the water and another swam on it’s back. Its belly was bright red and Robert told us that meant they were in heat.

As we made our way towards the end, some flying fish joined us leaping next to our paddles. We saw a couple of different jelly fish. There were a lot of jelly fish everywhere. It was a lot of fun.

If you ever want to see a lot activity paddle on a drizzly/rainy day. That seems to be when all the animals come out to play.
